1936 Austin Seven Special

Welcome to my blog, this page details the finishing works required to my Austin 7 Special.
The car was purchased by me in 2010, it was the result of several unfinished projects and required some finishing off to make roadworthy.
First task was to fit a new wiring loom, convert to 12v, fit rear lights, indicators etc.

The car was almost roaworthy when I decided it was literally for the chop! The rounded rear end really did not sit well with me as I much preferred the racing lines of the Austin Ulster's. They had a pointed rear end and these racing Austin 7's were made famous due to their performance in th 1920's famous Ard's Tourist Trophy races. The old circuit running from Quarry Corner in Dundonald, along the back rod to Ards, through the town square, out to Comber before making their way back to Dundonald and around th Elk Inn.

When I get this project finished, I may make a short video of the car around the course as it is today.

The inherited round rear end, it seemed to sit high and in my mind spoilt the look of the car..

After the chop.....
Firstly a wooden frame was made and fitted to the car to extend and support the bodywork, alloy panels were then fabricated and offered into place for a trial run as above.
Note the inicators also now fitted below the stop light.

More to come.....
